Kids Birthday
Party Supplies

Harry Potter 6ys old on  June 5th, 2004 We started off with invitations that were homemade we used plain computer paper and wrote "we are pleased to announce you are invited to Hogwarts school of witchcraft" etc.. from the first HP book" them we rolled them and sealed them with tape then melted crayons to make it look authentic. When all the kids arrived (22 including the birthday boy) then immediately went to Diagon Alley where they went to Gringots Bank first where they got a small 4" plastic black cauldin (i got from the party store) full of pennies where they went to 3 stores area's to buy the school supplies. They bought a WAND (1 foot lenght of dowling spray painted gold or silver), then the bought the POTION mix (alka seltzer tab), then they also bought snapping dragon SEEDS (which was sweet pea seeds). They then went back to the entry way where the other door was blacked out with an overlap and a large sign "platform 9 & 3/4" each kid slid through the door to the Great Hall at Hogwarts. The kids sat around where we sorted them into 3 classes (no slytherin).  We used a baby monitor and a witches hat and my husband from the other room sorted the kids. We then gave each kid a crest printed from the computer that we downloaded and laminated and hot glued a pin on the back, so we could tell who's in each "class". We then gave them their class schedules where they either went to "flying 101" where they did an obstical course that ended in throwing a water balloon into a badminton racket with all the strings removed to look like a quiddich ring while riding broom sticks etc... or "Herbalogy" which was planting the seeds into the cauldrins or "beginers potion mixing" which i had plastic shot glasses from the $$ store with green food coloring and vinegar in them then the dropped the Alka seltzer tab in and waved the wands using what ever magic words they wanted. After all the classes were done i used 2 film capsules and filled them 1/4 fill of vinagar and dropped in 2 alka selzers and sealed the lid quickly set them down in the garden facing the trees and had the kids waving their wands and shouting magic words after 5 seconds or so the lid popped off which a loud pop and the lid flew about 5 feet up...the kids loved this one!  We then went back into the great hall which was decorated with black crape paper and spiders and 4 kids picnic tables (borrowed from friends) they had black plastic table clothes with gold paper plates and plastic wine glasses from the $$ store i spray painted gold to look like brass goblets and each plate had H.P. glasses which were bought in a 4 pack from the $$ store and i cut the eyebrows and noses off and they were perfect.  I then collected the wands and put them by the front door for when they went home. They ate pizza, fruit and pop, after food and cake we used the birthday boys wand to play spin the wand for presents then we went for free time in the back yard untill the parents came to pick them up, we had kids playing "Harry Potter says", and some were playing the obstical course again or just tag. When the kids were ready to go home i had a black garbage can full of Harry Potter bubble bath in the shape of potion bottles from the $$ store under shredded paper and shredded gold and silver celyo where they reach in. So when each kid left they had a wand, glasses, planted cauldrin, laminated crest, and wrapped potion bubble bath. The parents are coiming to me saying the kids loved this party best one yet and the kids won't stop talking about it.  All in all this party cost $5 a kid and 10 days to plan and what a blast it was.
