Harry Potter Party Recreate Digon Alley: Embellish an inexpensive plastic shower curtain using a permanent poster marker with "Platform 9 3/4 ",next hang over a an open doorway,
using scissors cut the curtain vertically into several strips. When the guests arrive they can run through the "platform" carrying their gifts. --set up stores in doorways of rooms
or on card tables:choose a wand, decorate party hats with Harry Potter stickers, create a bracelet or necklace with plastic beads, (with adult help) iron appliques (make by cutting assorted
shapes: lightning bolts, moons, stars, diamons and backing with wonder under)onto capes made by sewing a hem on the selvage edge wide enough to accomodate an inexensive ribbon or string.
Thread string through and iron stars on the ends to prevent the string or ribbon from slipping back through. --play stick the lightning bolt on Harry: use several post-it notes and cut the
shape, follow the rule for pin the tail on the donkey. --sort guests into houses: using a shield shape write the name of each house on a shape and place into a pillow slip. Allow each guest
to sit on a stool, wear a special witch's hat and draw a slip out of the bag to see which house they are "sorted into. Finally before opening gifts and refreshments... --potions 101:
usng the recipe from Borax (and supervision) have the indgredients ready and labelled with appropriate names such as "essence of flubberworm or extract of gilley weed" allow the
guests to create their own slime to take home. Liquid food coloring may be added to the liquid ingredients to make them more realistic looking. Be sure to label a baggie with each guest's
name so that they can put their slime in a baggie and take it home. Also remind them that the
color may stain and not to play with it on carpeting or upholstered furnishing. Wash hands before refreshments Refreshment table: Use multi-colored Christmas lights under a blue or purple tablecloth to create a mystical look. Fill a black plastic cauldron with Bugles and turn onto its side to spill out. Place the party cake or your choice in the center. On the other side of the cake place the drinks or punch. You may want to serve finger sandwiches cut into star and lightning bolt shapes. P-nut buter mixed with maple syrup makes a great spread. Of course have a few sandwiches made up for guests that may have legume allergies or may be diabetic and cannot each the sugar. Remember to consider dietary needs of your guests when serving your beverage also. Record the fun take lots of pictures and either down load to a cd for each guest or develop and make multiple copies of the best pictures and when sending your Thank Yous purchase an inexpensive photo album or make one to hold the party pictures on the cover write in permanent marker Thanks.
