My daughter wanted a Harry Potter Themed party for her 7th birthday. We held the party at a local Burger King, because my daughter wanted to invite her whole class to the party. Luckily at that time they had star and lightening bolt Chicken nuggets for a special promotion they were having.  Which worked out great for her party.  We told the children that the tubes in the play place were the tunnels under Hogworts.     INVITATIONS:  I made the invitations to look like a scroll.  I made them on the computer and used clipart that I found on the Internet. I printed them on parchment looking paper and rolled them up and tied them with a black ribbon.  I also put a sticker at the top, which were of each house at Hogworts, so they were all different.  I started the 1st invitation with Fly on Over to... which had a picture of Harry and Malfoy flying on their brooms as the background and the 2nd invitation with. All Aboard to which had a picture of the Hogworts express as the background. DECORATIONS/CRAFT: I decorated with Harry Potter Table clothes & Banner, which I got on sale at Target. I got balloons in the colors of all four houses (burgundy & gold, blue & white, yellow & black, green & silver) and tied them to all the chairs. I got the confetti snakes and placed them on all of the tables. Each child received a pair of Harry Potter Glasses, which I made out of black and white pipe cleaners.  I got plain black party hats, metallic star stickers, and Harry Potter lightening bolt stickers.  The children got to decorate their own Wizard hats with the stickers. The craft was very simple and the children loved to make them. They were so cute running around with their hats and glasses on. Oh, I almost forgot. I purchased a Harry Potter lightening bolt tattoo stamp from Wall-mart, and we stamped their foreheads, which really completed the Harry Potter look. CAKE:  I purchased a Harry Potter cake from Publix grocery store. It was decorated with stars and had Hermionie stirring a light up cauldron. It was great.  GOODIE BAGS: I used brown paper lunch bags and decorated them by using various Harry Potter stamps.  I also stamped the words SPELL BAG at the top of each one.    I made wands for every child. I got 3 foot pieces of bamboo and cut them into 3 equal pieces.  I got Christmas decorations from a local craft store that looked like branches, which were covered, in blue & green glitter.  I cut off a couple branches and hot glued them into one end of the bamboo to look like sparks coming out of the wand.  On the other end I got round jewels, same diameter as the bamboo, and hot glued them on.  For my finishing touch, I glued smaller jewels about 4 up from the bottom of the wand, to give it the look of a handle.  Each child also got a sorceress stone, which was a polished black river rock that I wrote sorceress stone on with a silver paint pen.  I then wrapped it in a piece of material and tied it all together with a piece of yarn/string.  Just like in the first movie. I also made a crystal necklace for each child.  I found Christmas decorations with red and white ice crystals on them. They already had a hole in them because they had wire  stems going through them.  I removed them from the wire stem and drilled the hole out a little, so the elastic cord would fit through. I then tied a knot and put a drop of hot glue on so that it would not come untied. I found Harry Potter stickers at Wal-Mart and put a few of those in each bag.  I found some gold candy coins, which are available in chocolate and bubble gum and some gummy frogs.  I was very fortunate.  For this party I found just about everything I needed on sale or on clearance.  My daughters birthday is a couple months after Christmas, so I started on the party just after Christmas, and most of the items for the goodie bag, cost next to nothing.  I find when you're going to plan a birthday party for your child; you should try to start as early as possible.  It will definitely save you a lot of money!
