Hello Kitty Party: This year my daughter turned 4 and she asked for a Hello Kitty party. We put up a white tent in the back yard and decorated it with bright pink and bright green
streamers(two for a dollar at the $1 store), lots of bright pink, bright green and Hello Kitty balloons(again the $1 store, you can buy balloons somewhere else and have them filled rather
inexpensively there if they do not carry your party theme). Inside the tent we had a large table with a bright green table cloth ($1 store item)and chairs set up for the kids. The table had a
Hello Kitty place mat at each setting. I made these by printing off Hello Kitty Coloring pages on my computer. I went to www.dltk-kids.com/crafts/cartoons/hellokitty/index.htm for ideas and
coloring pages as they had some great Hello Kitty stuff for free. I also put each child's name on each place mat so they'd know where to sit. On each place mat was a goody bag. I made Hello
Kitty thank you labels on my computer printed them on some card stock and tied them to the goody bags with white and bright green ribbon. I purchased bright pink paperbags and included the
following items: Hello Kitty stickers, flower rings, pink party blowers, punch ball balloons, candy and threw in some white shredded paper for decoration. I purchased Hello Kitty invites,
thank you cards, plates and napkins at my local party store. We also have a Sanrio store at the mall near us so there were lots of other Hello Kitty items to chose from in a variety of price
ranges, see their website if you don't have one near you (www.sanrio.com). The games/activities included: Pin the bow on Hello Kitty, Toss the Yarn (Hot Potato) - as what kitty doesn't like
that (the prize for this game was wrapped inside the yarn ball), drop the clothes pins in a milk bottle, Go Fish - I had a suction cup fishing pole and if you caught the right fish you won a
prize, coloring tent - various Hello Kitty pages to color/paint/decorate with craft items and we had a large refrigerator box that I painted Hello Kitty on the side of holding a large flower.
I cut the inside of the flower out so the kids could stick their head inside to have their picture taken to include in the thank you cards when we mailed them.
I made a few of the Hello Kitty cut outs from the DLTK website for decorations around the house and the birthday sign for the mail box and front door. I also took sidewalk chalk and made kitty paw prints on the driveway through the garage to the back door leading to the party in the yard. Prizes included: Hello Kitty coloring books, Hello Kitty painting books and Hello Kitty Pez. I went to my local grocer for the cake, they have a cake and cupcake platter for less than $20. They were able to scan the Hello Kitty photo from the napkin I already purchased onto the cake and each cupcake had a small toy on it, this was another great feature as it was another great prize for the kids.
