For my daughter's 9th birthday we had a "Hollywood Premier" party. I used postcards to create the invitations.  THE INVITATION: I  found cartoon clip art on line of a male (in a red smoking jacket) and female (in a fur coat). The card itself read "Join us for a glamorous party" with the date and time at the bottom. Listing my husband and myself as the "directors" and the party's rating of "PG".  The back of the card asked each child to rsvp by a certain date because we were making something special for each child.  It also indicated "dress like the movie star you are."  We purchased 1/2 yard of fur fabric and 1/2 yard of silk lining for each child in attendance and sewed each of the girls real fur stoles to coordinate with their glamorous dresses. THE DECORATIONS: We lined the sidewalk leading up to the house with red craft paper all the way up to the house and into the hallway inside. THE TABLE: I used a white table cloth and red plates (to match the party girl's dress).  I baked cookies in the shape of stars and iced them with yellow ice-a-cookie frosting.  I personalized them by writing each child's name on the cookie with a food writer pen and placed them on the table surrounding the cake that we made in the shape of a white limousine.  We purchased plastic champagne flutes at a party store and had two bottles of sparkling cider chilling on the table as well.  I wrote a simple two page script entitled "I'm a Celebrity" for the girls to practice and act out at the end of the party and we videotaped it.  Of course no Hollywood Premier would be complete without a photoshoot. We taped hundreds of yellow foam cutouts in the shape of stars to white craft paper and hung it to the wall and each girl got her photo taken surrounded by stars. They all had a wonderful time.
