My four year old daughter requested a 'star party' for her birthday.
I sent out invitations With a star die cut on a printed star paper background. On the invitation is said "LJ presents... My 4th birthday party...Starring: all of her friends...as her honored guests....Showtime: 3-5pm....Date and location." All kids were given cheap star shaped sunglasses as they arrived and invited to go to the 'dress up' station where they could put on costumes and we would take their picture. I sent them the picture with their thank you card. There was another station to decorate star cookies, and a station to make a handprint/footprint stepping stone (pretending to be at Mann's chinese theater). We also played the 'Walk of Fame' game. I had a star with everyones name on it and placed them in a large circle on the floor. The kids played it like musical chairs. We had lots of treats for refreshments and a star decorated birthday cake. I found the perfect paper goods at Big Lots that had stars all over it. The party bags were white lunch bags with a gold star painted on the front, folded over and tied with a raffia bow. They were filled with star stickers, star shaped prizes, curly straws, bubbles, some gum and candy. Everyone had a great time and the moms kept commenting on what a cute idea it was.
