Make your child and his or her friends feel like movie stars on Oscar night with this party. About two to three weeks prior to the party, get out you video recorder, and let your child and his or her friends make short sketch videos.  Give them simple story ideas to get the ball rolling such as Karate movie, Vet's office, Pirates, Save the Princess, The Great Bike Race ect. Be sure to catch up with all the kids who are going to be invited, and give them the opportunity to star in a movie of their own. Keep all the movies to about ten minutes or less. If you are planning to invite a larger group of kids, try to make the movies star larger casts in order to keep down the number of movies you will need to film. Also, keep all the movie on one video tape or disk. Make enough copies of the tape or disk for all the children attending your party.   On the night of the party: Near the entry of your home, lay out large card board stars with the names of each child attending.  This is the Hollywood walk of fame. As guests arrive, give them flashy fake jewelry and take photos. The children take their star inside to decorate it.  Set up the craft center with crayons, markers, glitter, paint pens, or fake jewels to make the stars really shine. This occupies your guests until everyone arives. Once every one has arived and finished their stars, situate the children in front of the TV to watch the movies they made.  The kids love seeing themselves and their friends on TV. Serve popcorn and drinks at this time. Popcorn can be simple and served in one or two large bowls, put into individual plastic bags made up ahead, or be more elaborate and purchase bags printed to look like the popcorn movie theaters sell at a party supply store. After the movies are over, it is time to give out the Oscars". Present each child with an award for "Best something" and encourge the other child to clap and cheer as he or she walks up to recieve it. The awards can be internet print-outs of Oscar generic small plastic trophies or plastic Oscars. Which ever fits into your budget.        It is now time to move on to cake and ice cream and gifts and wind things down.  Give all guests a copy of the movies they made as they leave.  "
