Build-Your-Own Sundae Party!
For her 4th birthday, my daughter wanted ice cream. It was really easy to throw together a crowd pleasing party with a build-your-own sundae party. I provided a stack of brownies on a cake stand, decorative ice cream bowls full of toppings such as mini M&Ms, mini chocolate chips, whipped cream, nuts, fudge sauce, caramel sauce, cones, sprinkles, bananas, and of course cherries. We had chocolate and vanilla ice cream, and everyone made their own magic. The table had a pink plastic tablecloth on it, for easy cleanup, the napkins were lime green with ice cream cones on one side and flip flops on the other, and the sundae supplies made up the rest of the decorations. We made the invitations at the last minute using scrapbook paper that looked like sugar cones, and pink and brown cardstock for the scoop and syrup. Each invite was topped with a hot pink button as the cherry. The back of the ice cream simply invited everyone to a build-your-own sundae party in a pink curlz font with a brown shadow behind. Instead of candles on a cake, I put a scoop of ice cream on her plate, a cone on top (like a hat), whip cream and a cherry on the tip of the cone, and made eyes out of M&Ms, eyebrows from two chocolate sprinkles, a mini chocolate chip nose, and a pink sprinkle for the mouth. Next to the upside down ice cream cone was a brownie with the candles in it. It looked like the ice cream was blowing out the candles on the brownie. It turned out really cute, and made for a great photo.
