For my daughter's 6th birthday, we had an ice cream party.
On her invitations, I printed the well-known phrase "I scream, you scream...". On the inside were the details to the party, and I included the outline of an ice cream cone for the kids to color to look like their favorite ice cream. At the party, we played "Pin the cherry on the ice cream cone". I printed out a large ice cream cone from clip art and then cut out cherries for each child and put their names on them. Next we played "Ice cream, Ice cream, Cone" to the rules of "Duck, Duck, Goose." For the last game, I found some play ice cream cones, sundaes, DQ bars, etc. at the Dollar Store. We used the ice cream cone and played "Hot Potato". Those items were used as centerpieces on the table. After games, all the kids were given a hat which we crafted out of large pieces of paper. We folded the paper and taped the edges to make it look like ice cream hats worn in ice cream parlors. We found a logo on our clip art, so we copied that onto each paper before we crafted the hats. Once the kids got their hats on, they were allowed to make their own ice cream sundaes. We had ice cream, crushed Whoppers, crushed Oreos, M&Ms, gummi bears, chocolate syrup, strawberry syrup, and cool whip. They got to put everything they wanted to on their ice cream sundae, and no one worried about the mess! We formed cones out of construction paper and attached blown up balloons to the top of the cones to look like ice cream cones. We hung these by string from the ceiling all above the table. I also printed out very large clip art ice cream cones and sundaes and cut them out to hang around for decorations. For party favors, I filled real ice cream cones with candy and wrapped them up in saran wrap. These also were cute decorations on the table.
