Strawberry Shortcake Party idea I just found the cutest recipe for anyone doing a Strawberry Shortcake party. It was in a 1959 cookbook called "Foodarama Party Book". I think
it origially came with my grandparent's new refrigerator! These little ice cream treats look very much like Strawberry Shortcake's hat and would be the perfect accompaniment to a birthday
cake. (I'm going to update the recipe a little to today's language)
Strawberry Ice Cream Meringues 6 egg whites few grains salt 1 cup sugar 1 qt. strawberry ice cream frozen sliced strawberries Set oven for very low, 275o. Place parchment paper on two cookie sheets. Whip egg whites with salt until stiff but not dry. Add sugar, a little at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat until stiff and glossy. Drop meringue onto paper in dollops 3 inches apart, shape into bowls. Bake one hour or until light brown. Remove from paper at once and place on serving plates. Fill with generous scoops of ice cream and top with strawberries, partially thawed. Makes about 12. Note: a packaged meringue mix may be used for making the shells. Follow package directions. In this case, servings will be 8.
