For my daughter's 1st birthday we had an ice cream party. I found really cute ice cream bowls and spoons at the local dollar store.
They were 2 bowls and spoons for a $1.I bought enough for each guest to take home as a favor.I also bought poster board and made big ice cream cones out of them and used them as our menus. Because the theme was ice cream, we only served ice cream (her birthday is in July and the party was at 7:00 p.m.).We had 4 different flavors and about 6 different toppings. I also found really cute gifts for each of the kids at the dollar store. Instead of my one yr. old trying to unwrap gifts, I let the child who brought the gift open it. We took pictures of each and that way it was easy when writing thank you cards. Because her birthday is in July, we had fireworks as the grand finale. The kids had a great time. This year we are having an ice cream party for my youngest who will turn one at the end of July.I found the same bowls and spoons, but this year they were 3 bowls and spoons for a $1.We are also writing at the bottom of the invitation, please bring a new, unwrapped gift to be donated to the local children's home.I thought this was a good idea, because my kids don't really need anything and I would like to give back to my community.
