Monkey Party for a two year old boy.
I made a tail and ears for each child. The tails were felt sewn in the shape of a candy cane, leaving two inches at the top not sewn. I turned them right side out, used a chopstick to poke the stuffing down into them and then sewed them straight across 2 inches from the top and then at the top. I used a strip of vinyl for a belt and sewed velcro on each side. The tail then slips on the belt. Ears--I covered thin Goody headbands with felt, using a hot glue gun. I cut brown felt circles and smaller black felt circles, glued the black on the brown, then pinched the circles and glued them on each side of the headband. Monkey ears are far down and so they looked best glued on the sides. We had a blow up palm tree on the deck. We took a picture of each child with tails and ears next to the palm tree. (I am reusing the palm tree for my 5 year old son's pirate party. I made a 15 x 10 inch cake and cut it out so it would be a big banana shape. I iced the whole thing with yellow buttercream iceing. Then I rolled out fondate that I had dyed a darker yellow and cut it in the basic shape of the banana. I made a couple slit cuts in one end and so when I layed it over the cake, I could roll them down for banana peel. We have an enclosed trampoline. My husband hung string about a foot above the kid's heads from post to post. He used yellow plastic mesh pieces to cut bananas from with a little hook on the top of each. He hung them from the string and the kids went in one by one to try to jump up for the bananas.
