Jungle party 5-10 year old. I have a set of twins; one boy and one girl. I always
have a difficult time planning their party because it is hard to find a theme that works for boys and girls. Both my children love animals, so this year, for their 7th birthday, I decided to do a jungle theme. INVITATIONS: I took a piece of cardboard and cut each of them out to about 8 inches by 11 inches. I then glued green tissue paper for the trees, and pasted on some toy animals. In the center of the board, I drew a lake and put the party information on there. DECORATIONS: For this party, especially since a lot of kids would be attending, I needed a large, clean, kid proof room. The playroom was the perfect spot. About three days before the party, I cleared out all the toys and furniture into the basement. Then, I cut out about 10 pieces of 7 foot tall brown cardboard. On top of each piece, I placed a mound of green tissue paper. These acted as the trees. I put the trees around the room, and scattered some throughout the middle. At the local party store, I found some painted cardboard animals with supports, so they could stand up. I bought about 6 of these for 5 dollars each. When I brought them home, I glued on fake animal furs to the appropriate animals to make them look real. I scattered the finished products all over the room. My son owns some stuffed monkeys with Velcro hands, so they can hang from things. I hung these from the trees. Now the playroom was finished, and looked like a jungle full of party animals! ACTIVITIES: While waiting for all the guests to arrive, I put on "The Jungle Book" movie in the party room to settle everyone down. Then, when everyone arrived, the fun began. The kids sat down at a table and I had them decorate their own safari hats. I had bought these from the dollar store. I laid out glitter, animal toys, confetti, fabric paint, and other materials that they were able to use. Then, I played a tape of animal noised and they had to guess which animal it was. After that, I had my husband do an educational puppet show about the jungle using animals. The final activity was a treasure hunt. Throughout the party room I had hidden some toy animals and animal shaped candy. The clues were related to animals. The kids had a blast with this. FOOD: For the food, we had pizza and cake. The cake was decorated to look like a monkey. We also had veggies and dip and chips and dip. GOODIE BAGS: In the goodie bags, we put toy animals, candy animals, pencils with leopard print, and a tape with animal sounds on it.
