My three-year-old wanted a birthday with a Tarzan theme. Since Tarzan is not the "in" thing right now, I decided to use a jungle theme and insert Tarzan where I could.  I found a great clip art site for Disney characters and was able to download some images that I used with some software that I have to create cards, invitations, banners, etc.  I made invitations with Tarzan characters on the front that read "ME TARZAN.....YOU INVITED" The inside of the invitation read "Join Tarzan and all of his friends to celebrate Brandon's third birthday!" and gave the rest of the details.   We rented a picnic shelter at nearby Mammoth Cave National Park.  The shelter was set in the woods which added to the jungle theme. I decorated with animal print table cloths and used animal print plates, napkins and cups.  I rolled the silverware in the napkins and made Tarzan napkins rings from the Tarzan print center on the official Disney web site.  I used the same web site to print characters which I taped to pieces of wire and inserted them into some artificial ivy arrangements that I had at home.  These looked great on the table.  The tables were also decorated with green balloons that came out of a base made from canned foods wrapped in animal print paper and some extra safari hats that I had purchased for the kids to wear.  I also stood a Tarzan book up on the table. I printed several banners to hang that had the Disney characters and "Happy Birthday Brandon".  I hung green streamers straight down from the ceiling to create a jungle feel.  I made coloring books from coloring pages found on the Disney web site. I also printed figures to hang from an artificial tree that I brought from home. I did find some Tarzan goodie bags on a discount table at Toys R Us. I filled them with a small bag of animal crackers, animal print pencils, animal erasers, animal stickers, animal tattoos and a small bag of M&M's.   When each child arrived, they received a safari hat(from Oriental Trading Company), a name tag made from the clip art page and a tattoo.   I enlisted the help of several friends and family members to be "Safari Leaders".  Each of us wore khaki shorts and a white shirt and wore safari hats.  Each of us had a name tag that had a Disney character on it and said "Safari Leader ------".  This was a tremendous help. They all helped me to decorate and each had different assignments during the party.  This allowed me to be more at ease and allowed the adults with children to sit back and enjoy visiting while we took care of the kids. After cake (sheet cake with Tarzan edible image ordered from the internet, decorated as a jungle scene with plastic toy animals) and ice cream, gift opening and some games (pin the mouth on the tiger, hot potato played with plastic snake and a Tarzan yell contest), we took the kids on a safari cruise on the river that runs through the national park. I gave each child a pair of binoculars made with paper towel rolls that had been spray painted and glued together with a glue gun. They all looked so cute on that boat looking for animals with their safari hats and binoculars. The party was a huge success.  The adults seemed to enjoy it as much as the kids. Thanks to others who have submitted ideas to this site. I'm sure that it is obvious that I used a lot of them for my party.
