I had a Jungle Animals theme for my daughter's fourth birthday party. Our apartment was decorated with brown and green crepe paper vines, with pictures of jungle animals such as hippos,
elephants and lions made from construction paper pasted on the walls. For the games, we sang songs about animals then small plastic animals were placed in a decorated tissue box,
and the children took turns to put their hand into the box, grab an animal and guess what animal they'd picked.
Prizes wrapped in animal print wrapper (done by stamping animal pictures on colored paper, painting zebra and tiger stripes on colored paper, and painting paw prints on colored paper) were given out. The next game was to "Help the Animals go Home". A green wastepaper basket was "home", and the children took turns to try tossing three small soft toys (lion, elephant and duck) into the basket. For the last game, each child was given an envelope with a picture of an animal on it. They had to find another child holding a card with the same animal on it, and the first three pairs to do so had prizes. The games were rounded off with craft time where the children were given colored paper bags, plastic eyes and ears, trunks etc to make paper bag hand puppets. After cake, goodie bags with animal themed favors were given out. A friend also brought balloons twisted in the shape of animals for each child. The last part of the party was the wildest as my daughter had a whale of a time tossing up the animal balloons and twirling her lion-faced noise maker. Some of her friends played with balloons, whilst others enjoyed the blowouts tipped with butterflies.
