Safari/ Rainforest Party: Everyone had a ball at my son's safari party.
It was so easy and such a big hit!! Invitations: I printed the text on the computer and let my son place animal sticker and stamps around the edges. Decorations: I used green butcher paper (found at teacher supply stores) and cut out huge leaves and taped them to my cabinets and walls. I also cut out smaller leaves and taped them to crepe paper vines hanging from the ceiling. Party Favors: I gave the kids sunglasses, whistles, and plastic safari hats, and we made binoculars. Activities: The children made binoculars from two toilet paper rolls glued together then decorated them with animal stickers and stamps. We used them (along with the other party favors) on our safari to find stuffed animals hidden in our backyard. These animals were then moved inside and used in our petting zoo. Then we played animal charades. (which was a really big hit!!) The children also had a great time dancing to the "Jungle Boogie" CD. I moved the dinette table out and put logs and colored plastic wrap there to make a campfire. The children loved eating cake and ice cream around it. Cake: We had a watering hole cake. A round cake decorated like water with plastic alligators and gulls. Then surrounded the cake with several cupcakes with light brown icing (sand/ dirt) decorated with plastic animals. Atmosphere: Everything was topped off with a nature sounds CD of jungle noises (sorry don't have the name, I borrowed it from a friend). That was 2 years ago and people are still talking about how much fun it was!!!
