Monkeys and Bananas Theme  My daughters name is Hannah and we call her Hannah Banana. So, for her first birthday we did a monkeys and bananas theme. We had a 30'x40' deck turned literally into a jungle!! Thanks to a local nursery we were able to rent plants for the day. Large trees and small plants and anything in between. About 45 in all. Plants of all sizes and colors. Hanging plants completed and enclosed feeling as if you stepped right into the jungle. We hung vines and got the stuffed monkeys with the long arms to hang everywhere. Some on the vines, some in the trees, even one near the punch bowl!!!50 fresh bananas were found in the trees, on benches and on tables as centerpieces. We had 30 monkeys of all sizes to fill our jungle.We found most of them at Toys R Us or on EBay. Landscape rocks placed around the pots of the plants not only hid the pots but made the jungle look complete.Our cake was a 3D monkey sitting atop a table and amongst the fresh bananas and live plants. Hannahs individual cake was a single banana. We used solid yellow plates,cups,napkins, and plasticware found at a local dollar store. The stuffed monkeys carried bananas from branch to branch overhead.
