IDEA: Celebrity Showdown (ages 11- 14 would most likely enjoy it the most!) Rent a karaoke machine for a night (around $65 CAD) and watch your party flourish! Have each of your guests wear a
costume approprite to the popstar he/ she is representing (this is the most fun when a male guest comes dressed as Brittany Spears!). Ensure ahead of time that no two guests are dressed the
same. This tends to get a little competitive, and you may get more excitment than you bargained for! To keep this party running smoothly, invite no more than about seven guests, or waiting
for the karaoke machine will get boring. For inviatations, creat stars out of cardboard and spray-paint them silver or gold. Write the details on with a black permenent marker. As far as
decorations go, balloons are always fun, so I used black and white balloons, and but up various streamers. Make sure the focal point is on the "stage" where the karaoke machine is
set up. Play up this area accordingly. As the main party events revolve around the actually competition (coming up!), keep foods simple, and use basic party foods (pizza and chips) instead of
fancy superstar delicacies (cavier and who knows what else). Now on to the show! Have your friends take turns doing solos and duets on the karaoke machine, and have everyone else dance. One
party game idea is to put on a song that everyone knows (like a Spice Girls song, or something along those lines) and have people stand in a line. Get each person to sing two lines of the
song, then hand the mic over to the next person and run to the back of the line. Around the end of the night, have everyone write down on a piece of paper who they want to win the following
prizes: Best Singer, Best Dancer, and Best Costume. Have someone impartial (like your parents) go over the votes and write down the winners. Announce the winners like the Grammies, and when
each winner comes up, present him/her with a crown ($1 at the dollar store) and a flower (free from your garden!). For favours, these are optional, but winners keep their crowns and flowers,
and you may choose to hand out a Celebrity Showdown CD to everyone (with one track on it by each star that each gues is representing. Try burning one for a customized- and heaper- favour). I
did this for my 13th birthday party two years ago, and that was my first taste of karaoke. Now all my friend's parties have karaoke too!
