Kitty Theme

Honorable Mention

March 2004

Teresa in Fontaiebleau, France

We planned a kiity party theme for my 3 y/o daughter who was always pretending to be a kitty so therefore the Kitty theme. I made her invitations from Pink card stock and bought kitty rub offs.  I printed out " A purrfect party for Corrin" on a lavender card stock. On the front I attached a lavender square with the kitty rub off on it with a pink bow by punching 2 holes in it.  on the bottom was the "Purrfect party" printout than inside I printed out on lavender card stock again "come help Corrin celebrate a purrfect birthday as she turns 3"  than the party details. I made extra and used them for decorations by hanging them from the ceiling and putting them on the table also.  for the table I had hello kitty cups and plates and table cloth for 10 and bought pink napkins red plates and clear cups for the rest of the guests. We decorated a kitty cake which was easy for the cut out and decorated the face with jelly beans and licorace and cotton candy for the bow. I had ordered from a bakery mouse brioches (sweet bread) and other treats.  For the games we decorated pre cut paper plates Kitty faces(eyes and tongue cut out,  and drew on a nose and curvy line for a mouth) as the rest of the guests were arriving. I put out sequence and pompoms and washable markers and paint. we attached elastic string to the face for wearing.  Some very unique faces came out of that.  They wore them through some of the party and they had them to take home for party favors.  We than had a couple games: we did a yarn toss and tossed the yarn from person to person with music and when the music stoped the person holding the yarn recieved a wrapped gift with kitty stickers in it.  I was short 2 kitty stickers so I wrapped 2 dog stickers and those guests recieved an extra gift. than we played a mouse hunt with cut out cheese clues that ended with finding the mouse (a mouse puppet) that we filled with candy and tied a string to and played pat the pinata mouse.  which was low enough for them to pat at.  ( be careful dont make it too hard to open or it may get batted into the children) than we had cake and after we had ice cream from bowels that were given as party favors and the li'l kittys lapped up their ice cream just like real kittys do. with older children it could possibly be a game challange. for party favors I bought little stawberry change purses and bracelets and assorted gummy candy wrapped in celophane and tied with a bow. and for the boys a small ball and pad of paper and candy.  I tried to find kitty favors but no luck. We all had a super time with this and one of my favorites yet. I hope you enjoy yours!
