For my son's 5th birthday I wanted to give him a party he would remember, and being that in total 32 children attended I think he will. My son love's dressing up and role playing so I chose a
knights and princess theme.First for invitations we printed out coloring pages of castles and colored them for the front, my son liked that he could help with this, then we used construction
paper and made it into a card and "cordially invited knight or princess so and so to attend prince caleb's royal 5th birthday". they turned out very nice. When each child arrived my
husband and I greeted them my husband dressed as a wizard and I as a queen. When every one was there we had the boy's line up in front of the wizard and the girls in front of the queen one by
one my husband knighted the boys by giving them there knight's helmet purchased from birthday express also a sword and sheild each time saying "I dubb thee knight so and so" I did
the same with the girls with a princess hat, the tall story book kind and a wand. saying "I now crown you princess so and so" (the wands we were lucky enough to find at the dollar
store, the princess hats were harder because we wanted the really tall ones with the veil, we bought one and copied the pattern and bought the material very simple to make ended up costing
approx. 2.00 a hat)After that we read the sword in the stone and let our son pull a sword from a styrofoam rock.We had a dragon egg toss (water balloons) slay the dragon (dragon pinata
purchased from birthday express)and the royal raffle each child had a number under there hat that they didt know was there. For food we had cheesburgers and hotdogs not really related to the
theme but went over well and other the other munchies typical to a birthday party. We purchased half knights plates and napkins and half princess from birthday express and also there matching
activity placemats, we lined up about three picnic tables in a long row with the little matchin castle centerpeices in the middles. for cups we used plastic wine goblets and dressed them up
with gem shaped stick on earings. and the cake ofcoarse was a dragon. We used a shade tent we already had the kind that just has the top and four posts as our castle we put a flag on top and
some on two post in front with a chair in the middle this is where caleb opened his presents, it is also where my husband my son and I still in costume took a picture with each family and
sent it to them in a thank you card(also from birthdayexpress)I hope my son always remembers this party I know I will with 32 children in attendence I slept for a very long time when it was
all done.I owed the party's success to everyone who pitched in and helped decorate and also to everyone who showed up.
