The Castle Party!  We sent out invitations printed on antique looking paper and rolled up like scrolls tied with golden string. The inside had a picture of a castle colored with silver and gold metallic paint and they read "The King hereby decrees all loyal subects must attend the Royal October Birthday Ball! We will be honoring all those with October birthdays" Both my children, my sister's daughter, my friend, and my Grandma have October birthdays. I took pictures of the three children dress up in jewels and playing together, beforehand, and hung them up on a big golden poster reading "The Royal Children". Another golden poster had several coat of arms drawn on it with "Can you guess who's is who's?" I had different ones for different members of the family for example my dad is the fix it guy in the family and also plays the saxaphone so his was a saxaphone making and "X" with a hammer. My brother the balloon artist had one with a balloon dog on it! Everyone had fun trying to figure them out. When the guests arrived at our house there was a big poster I painted of the castle from the invitations on the wall. We gave each guest a small crown party hat and the women got tons of fake jewelry then we stood the families in front of the big castle poster and took their picture. The two birthday girls were dressed up in pink princess outfits with the cone hats and all, the birthday boy was dressed as a knight with a dragon emblem on his chest and sword and all. Even my friend with the October b-day got a special silver crown. Then my Grandma got a huge golden crown and a red velvet and golden scepter and a red velvet cape encrusted with gold and jewels(glitter glue!) She was the Queen, of course! She even got to sit in the thrown during the opening of presents(an antique chair with a lion head and tons of carving on it). There were gold and silver candles and streamers through the house and on the wall by the pool table were giant playing cards with the King, Queen, and Jack. And even croquet set up out back. Everyone made their own giant sandwiches on french bread on their golden plates with golden utensils, cups, napkins and all. The food was all laid out on gold and silver platters(plastic!). Then we had a castle shaped cake. The cake had windows in the castle walls and little faces peeking out that just happened to match each of those with an October birthday. Then there were three little cakes with dragons on them and a candle with the age for each of the birthday kids so they could each blow their own candle and all. We took pictures of the kids with each of their presents. When we sent out thank yous we included the picture of each kid with their gift from that person and then the picture of that person or family in front of the castle picture and any other pictures they might enjoy(I had like four rolls from the party!!!) They all had a wonderful time and went home with party bags, too(including rase candles for the ladies and tool key cahins for the men). I think my grandma actually enjoyed herself more than anyone else! She loved being the queen!
