QUEEN's ROYAL PARTY My daughter's 6th birthday was super fun. DECORATION: Purple balloons of various shades and gold foil placements on a gold fringed tablecloth. Streamers
and cardboard drawbridge that was lowered upon the arrival of each guest. All supplies purchased at party store for under $50.
The birthday girl was adorned in a purple crown. The girls who attended had gold sequined tiaras that looked great and the boys wore "jokers" hats. CAKE: Castle - large circle with smaller circle on top adorned with four "wedding cake" pillars topped by an upside down sugar cone and frosted with meringue frosting and edible glitter. It was gorgeous. GAME: All the kids got name tags when they arrived (boys names like Sir John, and Prince Romeo - girls names like Princess Beatrice and Princess Juliet.) The name tags were repeated on a decorated corkboard made to keep track of the "CHALLENGES TO KNIGHTHOOD" The story was read that the Queen needed their help finding a prince who had turned into a frog. They were to complete 7 challenges that would help lead them to the frog prince. The person to win the most challenges that helped find the frog won a prize (I kept track of boys and girls separately). Each challenge led them to something (1. fallen helmet 2. fallen trumpet 3. froggy footprints 4. magic globe to help find way to hidden castle 5. magical forest 6. castle 6. finally the frog prince) Each of these were made into laminated cards with clipart style pictures that would go up on the board after each challenge to keep track of who was winning. The challenges included : 1. test of skill:stand on one foot while trying to catch a ball. 2. hopping like a frog from start to finish fast 3. singing happy birthday to the Queen with the Karaoke machine the best (judged by the Queen) 4. bobbing for apples 5. bowing to the queen with the most grandeur(judged by Queen) 6. guessing how many pearls were in a jar 7. building the tallest castle with a set number of plastic cups of various sizes (in pairs). The game kept the kids occupied and excited for about 1 hour and 15 min. It ended with a girl and a boy receiving a prize (books/coloring books about castles) and being KNIGHTED by the QUEEN. The goody bags when they left were filled with a Deck of Cards and a three Musketeers bar. They also got to leave with their tiaras. We took the theme a little farther as my daughter's birthday is in November. My daughter wanted to share this holiday season with others...so she let it be known that the "Queen" wanted to share her presents with the "citizens of the world" and asked that people bring a small gift for her and something for a child that could be put in a shoebox and sent as a Christmas gift for this holiday season. It worked out great and we were able to fill 4 shoeboxes with nice presents for other children.
