I had a Ladybug party for my four year old daughter.
The invites said...1,2,3,4,5,6...please join us for a ladybug picnic! Anyway, I made party hats out of red Silo bowls. Just turned them upside down and drew black dots on them. Then, I looped elastic from side to side to hold them on. To top them off I stuck black curled pipe cleaner out of the front and put a red foam ball on the ends for the antennae. The kids cake plates were red with miniature Oreos stuck all over them and black licorice coming out of the sides for legs. The cake turned out wonderfully! I used a deep mixing bowl(one that can go in the oven). I baked the cake mix right in that. Once it cooled, I turned it over for a "hill" look! That was the bugs body. A cupcake worked for the head. Junior mints for spots, licorice for legs and string licorice for antennae. Two green gum drops were perfect for eyes. I put the entire bug cake on a pan surrounded by green colored coconut, a grassy look! The kids all got small bug boxes for favors. I had painted stones like ladybugs with different amounts of spots on them and hid them around the yard. The child that found the most spots, not stones won a ladybug house! I also had a jumping bubble there. On the invite, it said come fly like a bug....jumping bubble at 2:00!! I go overboard every year, but this was the cutest one yet....but she's only 5 now!
