Ladybug Parties...Just for fun, but can be used for birthday. I am the grandmother of 5 Grandladybugs. We have a yearly Ladybug party just to spend time together. Invitations:
\*Come to a Ladybug Luncheon at Grandmas Ladybug Lodge." This was written on red paper with back ink, ladybug "clip art" embellished the bottom. Times and date were listed on
the other side along with instructions to wear black. A larger peice of black cardstock which I ran through the ripple tool helped frame the red invitation. The two were attached with paper
punched holes through both and tied with a black satin ribbon bow. I made red envelopes and addressed them to Miss Ladybug Syndey and Mrs. Ladybug Tina or Mom Ladybug, or Grand Ladybug Matea,
etc. Ladybugs love mail. \*Hang a sign at the door..."Ladybugs Welcome." Mine is a wood ladybug.
\*Purchase a red plastic table cloth, round off the corners. Add spots and a head with either black construction paper or I used black plastic, I like the shine. The line down the back can be made with a black streamer. \*Luncheon: I have done chicken salad (great for moms) but the biggest hit with the kids was just Peanut Butter and Jelly Flower Sandwiches: order a yellow loaf of bread, spread peanut butter then raspberry or strawberry jam. Cut out a small circle about 1 inch in the middle of the top peice of bread. Place on top of the jam. Then using a larger flower cookie cutter, cut out a flower taking off the crust. You can also order a green loaf to use for leaf embellishment. Watermellon Ladybug: Using a large scoop of watermellon with seeds add an olive for the head. Drink: Any red drink or lemonade with a red icecube. Activities: First...Ladybugs are meticulas about their nails, so Moms and daughters paint finger and toe nails like ladybugs. Start with red polish. I use acrylic paint to do the dots and head. Then cover with clear top coat. We like crafts, so we have done the following...I wouldn't do them all in one day. \*Ladybug outlet plug covers. Using 1/4 inch plywood cut out ladybugs about 5x6. Using the outlet cover for a template draw where the top plug is. Screw in a plastic outlet guard. Paint with red and then apply black dots and head. Spray with clear laquer. \*Daisy bead bracelets or Ladybug bead bracelets. Let them string them and wear them. \*Daisy Charm bracelets to which we added a Ladybug charm. \*Plant a "wandering Jew" plant and add a ladybug pick. Watch the part of the movie, Summer Magic, where they sing "Ugly bug ball". If they are older, watch the whole movie. Buy a bag or two of large plastic bugs. Hide them in the yard and garden. Let them gather them. Hopefully there is at least one ladybug. If they find the ladybug they get a special prize. They can do this in a group...when they are little it is much more fun. VERY IMPORTANT...Buy some Ladybug wings and take pictures of Mom & Li'l Ladybugs in the garden or all the Grand Ladybugs together.
