LEGO Knights - I created a Lego Knights party for my 8 year old twin boys and they had a blast! I kept it simple, but with enough activities to keep (10) 8 year old boys busy and happy. I
ordered the themed party supplies on-line; the colors were red, royal blue and silver. We added balloons and streamers in those colors, and I created a banner in calligraphy that said Happy
8th Birthday Sir Matt and Sir John" on the computer. I found some clip art of knights and added that at each end of the banner. The boys started by playing with a large bucket of legos
and a Lego Knights Castle that we built the night before. They all enjoyed that so much it was hard to ge them away to do other activities. Next we made shields from cardboard and craft foam.
Also you can go to the Lego website and look up how to make the shields - that's where I got the general ideas for colors and shapes. I bought rectangle shaped cardboard pieces at a party
store that are normally used for under a cake (1 for each child); they were about .50 cents/piece. I cut them into shield shapes using an old steak knife and them poked 4 holes for pipe
cleaners to be fit through about 1-2 inches. On the front I taped the 2 inches of pipe cleaner down with clearing packing tape. This left the front smooth to decorate but made safe and
durable handles on the back. I did all this ahead of time and placed a blank shield on each boy's chair. They decorated them with different colored craft foam paper. Ahead I also cut out
"animals" like a griffin or lion or bear in gold craft foam. Igot the templates for these on the Lego Knights webpage too. They glued those on after as well as plastic jewels.
They all came out so cool! This was probably the highlight of the party for the boys. I bought grey plastic toy swords and they all had a sword fight with their shields at the end (after the
glue had dried). We also had an archery contest (a "tournament") with a bow and suction cup arrows out in our back yard. Afterwards we had Round Table Pizza and ate our
"castle" cake that I found on the Better Homes and Garden website. All in all it was a moderate amount of prep time but completely worth it to see those great smiles. All the boys
are still talking about it! Thanks to all the parents that put their great ideas on this site too! I've used in numerous times. "
