We just had a great Lego party for my 6-year-old. We invited all his boy classmates at his request. That made it easier to think of games and prizes for goodies. For the invitations, I had my
son create a Lego building with several minifigs. Then I printed out the details: "Lorenzo's Lego Builder's Psrty," etc. etc. and had the minifigs "holding" the paper up.
I took a digital picture and had them printed out at the local store. I glued the map to the party in the back. For the venue, we rented a space that had a split level. In the railings, I
tied the balloons-- red, blue, yellow, green-- and had the same colors of crepe paper flowing down. It looked really festive. I didn't want the walls to be bare, and a week before the party I
had the great idea to cut out the Lego pictures from the Lego catalogues we get in the mail. That was such a money-saving idea. I didn't have to buy or print out any Lego pictures. So the
Lego images were all over the walls. For the smaller images, I taped them on top of the food table, play and craft table, dining table, and gift table. All of them over the plastic table
covers, of course. I also sprinkled confetti and scattered blowhorns for the kids of top of the tables. For some of the images also, I glued plastic coffee stirrers to make it look like a
lollipop (but not edible) and used them to decorate the brownies and cookies. I stuck them on top of the desserts. It looked really cute. For the goodie bags, I bought small Lego boxed toys--
car or tractor-- candy, stickers, etc. Also, so I wouldn't have to mail the "thank you" cards, I bought bubbles, peeled off the paper, printed my own message like, "Thank you
for coming to my Lego Builders Party" etc. and glued some more small Lego images from to catalogues to personalized them. The kids had such a blast. They were so excited. I had games all
ready to play, but didn't get to do most of them because they were all content on playing with the Lego bricks we had out and also running around. But I had some crafts for them to do, which
a lot of them loved, and do some mazes for some quiet time. We had a dance contest, at my son's request. We also had a pull-string pinata, which I bought a red pinata that was actually The
Incredibles, covered it, and glued bigger Lego images that I cut out. The kids just loved it. I did so many details for the party that there's just not enought time to include all of it here.
But one last thing, for my son's cake, I took a digital picture of him with his Legoland shirt and had it printed on the cake. All the kids and parents were really impressed by it. It looked
great! My son was and still is so happy about his celebration. I know he and his friends will be talking about this for a long time.
