Thank you for everyone that posts ideas, lots of creativity that has helped for planning not just for this party but for years past - thanks again
LEGO INVITATIONS - took the bigger blocks and made standard card size rectangles. Decoupages paper invitations created on computer that read Come on over to build up some fun and celebrate Blake's 7th Birthday" put all the particulars on the back in permanent marker. When glue stuff is a little more then dry to touch use a razor to follow the lines on the blocks or bricks and separate. Once completely dry we put the pieces in colored lunch sacks. Sacks were decorated staying all within the same color with circles cut out with LEGO written on each. We put a sticker holding it closed that read "you're invited". NOTE: if you try and separate the bricks too early the razor will drag the paper and messes it all up... if you wait to long the bricks will be glued together. If you do a search you can find the Lego font and install that to use on the invitations. LEGO CAKE - We found a square cupcake pan at Wally using small marshmallows with a dab of frosting we stuck them to the top 4 each. After painstakingly frosting a couple - switched up and made a glaze frosting. Soooo... much easier. We did blue and green. Pouring the frosting covered everything so nice and once it hardened they were slightly shiny and smooth. Highly recommend (1/4c butter melted add 2c powdered sugar 1tsp vanilla 3-4 T. HOT water - mix it all together till smooth add coloring and water to make milkshake consistency - pour) NOTE: put item on cooling rack over pan or bowl when pouring frosting then transfer to platter. You can reuse glaze if you work quickly- zap it a little if needed. LEGO GAMES - found someone on eBay that sells Lego's by the pound not just square's all kinds of pieces from different sets- star wars batman raider's etc. We got 6 lbs for 28 bucks. THAT'S A LOT OF LEGO'S!! I weighed the set we bought for the present and it was just at a pound it was $60. So you get the idea. We made up agent badges each was a different color - agent blue etc. On the back we put their secret assignment build a base camp build something that fly's something that walks something that crawls something found in or on the water etc. We wanted to let them use their imagination as much as possible. Some needed a little more assistance on more specific ideas but that was only a couple - They all built some really great models. We had filled up a white sheet with all the pieces and balloons once handed the agent cards we dropped it down and opened it up. They were so excited once they found something neat they did not need themselves they would ask - who needs a steering wheel? Or whatever was discovered. Each guest took home their creation as part of the goody bag. We had other games ready to play but everyone was so into building and digging in the pile no one was interested. I must say it was one of the most quite parties. Adults were just standing around in amazement until they got in and started building too! It was great- just search eBay for bulk or lot Lego's NOTE: the person we bought from came back with a second chance offer for the max bid we put in. So don't get caught up in the bidding just figure what you're willing to pay per pound. One of the games that did not get played during the party was Lego pinch - we made Jell-O and before it was completely set we stirred in little Lego pieces. Each child was to have chopsticks (with the roll of paper and rubber band at the top) and see how many they could get out. My boys loved it after the party it would have been fun a little messy but fun. And remember - we may be just one person in the world - but to one person you are their world. Have fun. "
