I had a birthday party last year for my daughter- she was turning 3, and loved Lilo & Stitch. I thought it was a great idea, because 3 year olds can be a little crazy, just like Lilo and Stitch!  We had it at the local pool, so it was a Lilo & Stitch Luau at the Pool.  It was very cheap to rent the party room, and it was used as the childcare room during the day, so it was childproofed already.  I made the invitations on the computer. Her birthday is in October, but toward the end of summer, I got hula hoops and grass skirts and leis on sale at the store.  The kids were asked to wear their swimming suits under their clothes and were each given the skirts, hoops and leis as they came in.  I had Elvis music and played a cake-walk type game with the hula hoops on the floor in a big circle- we pretended they had to dance away from the aliens that were after Stitch. Then, with each child standing in their hula hoops, we did hula-'hoop' dancing lessons (like in the movie). We had Hawaiian pizza and Hawaiian punch for dinner.  I also found sand buckets at the dollar store and gave each child the sandbuckets and a pair of sunglasses at each place setting. The sandbuckets came with a shovel, too. I set up a cheap plastic pool with some sand inside and hid pictures of Lilo and Stitch and the sister and boyfriend and other characters from the movie that I had printed off the computer and laminated.  The kids dug for the pictures and each child had to put the "family" together- because O'Hana means family, etc. etc. Then we glued the pictures onto the buckets. I decorated the edges of the cake with little hawaiian flowered plastic barrettes that I then gave to the girls (remember we were at the swimming pool, so I wasn't worried about getting too dirty.)  We had cake and opened presents- then, when the kids were getting antsy, we all got to go swim in the pool for an hour!  Since each of the four activities (hula hoop cakewalk, hula-'hoop' dancing, digging for O-Hana, and making Lilo & Stitch sandbuckets) only took about 10 minutes, the kids were all involved and didn't get bored. We had the food as a distraction, while Emma opened presents, the kids ate pizza, etc.  So the whole party, including swimming, was from 5-7pm. It was just perfect for three year olds! Emma asked for a Lilo and Stitch party again this year!
