Lilo and Stitch Party

For my nephews 1st birthday party we had a Splish Splash Lilo and Stitch Birthday Bash. There were about 40 children and 60 adults in attendance.

For the invitations using microsoft word and plain white cardstock, I made airplane tickets, I put a little color in it by using a hibiscus rubber stamp and brush markers (I got lots of compliments on these). The first side of the invitation had all the information and the second side had a picture of him and more instructions for the party (like bring towel and swim suit, etc.) I rounded the corners, put them in a "ticket envelope" and hand delivered most of them, others I put in US mail.

I had lots of fun decorating. I made balloon palm trees and hung paper lanterns and tissue birds from the trees. I covered the outside umbrella with a raffia umbrella cover and lined the deck with grass skirts, on the patio table I just decorated the table with tabletop tiki torches and baskets full of coconuts and a real coconut bowl filled with candy. Also outside I used balloon bouquets to decorate the front of the house and let everyone know which house it was (Lilo and stitch).

The eating tables were in the garage and they were decorated with metallic palm trees and real coconut bowls filled with candy. We made a Lilo and Stitch crepe paper skirt and hung it from the top of the garage. Inside I made balloon palm trees. I lined the fireplace with hibiscus umbrellas and put metallic palm trees on top of the cabinets and fireplace trust me when I say my description is not doing any justice.

The food tables looked awesome. We had Fruit salad with various dips, fruit Kabobs, veggie kabobs, sweet and sour chicken kabobs, sweet and sour pork kabobs, polynesian chicken skewers, grilled pineapples, potato salad, Hawaiian cake, mango salsa and tortilla chips, regular salsa and tortilla chips, Teriyaki chicken, barbeque chicken, hawaiian rolls, and hotdogs for all the people who did not want to try the hawaiian food. I started making the candy leis ahead of time (I'm glad I did it took 30 minutes per lei and I had to make 40).

I got the hawaiian translation of everyone's name from alohafriends.com and boy are they great the names that were not on the list they added for me (Including my own - Ralondia).

As the guest arrived they received a plastic lei. There really wasn't a need for games because we have a huge swing set in the backyard (from Sam's club) and we also had a large six flags water slide that the adults could even fit on and a moonwalk both were purchased from walmart. We had to pry the children off the waterslide to eat. I prepared indoor games just in case it rained. I had Hot coconut (played like hot potato), pineapple bowling, limbo, learn to hula and musical beach towel.

My sister bought everyone a t-shirt (that is why RSVP is very important my people!) and she made t-shirt transfers with Lilo and Stitch and a quote from the movie about Ohana, we borrowed a friends t-shirt press and transfered the image and quote to the t-shirt. We played island music that we picked up while in Hawaii.

The party was supposed to be over at 4:00 but the last of the guest did not leave until 5:30 as the children left the party they received their candy lei and favor bag made up of a coloring book I put together with lilo and stitch pictures off the internet and my nephew on the back cover, a tropical activity book and crayons from (O.T.), a tropical tattoo, flavored ice, a pack of pineapple now and laters, and a big cookie shaped like the number one and decorated with my nephews name and the icing was in the cutest pattern.

I love big parties they are a lot of work though.  Have fun!!!
