For my 13th birthday, I had this awesome luau party with 6 guys and 6 girls who were invited. The first thing I did was make a list of 11 people who would be fun to party with. You need a
group that is fun and outgoing. I made invitations out of colored construction paper and on the front I cut out a flower, made a slit and inserted a mini-umbrella, and printed you're invited
to a luau! I also fringed the bottom. On the back I added the date, time, place, etc. It took me about 2 weeks to prepare and a bit of cash, but it was the best party ever and definetly worth
it. Decoration was the fun part. My friends also pitched in for this. My friend had blow up palm trees and we also bought pineapples, tissue flowers, blow-up monkeys, and fake Hawaiian
flowers. I had it on my porch because I didn't have a pool and my porch is pretty big. Streamers also help and if it is at night, get out those Christmas lights!! For virgin cocktails I got
margarita mix and added orange juice instead of tequila. I added a lime and a mini-umbrella to finish it off. Another drink you can make is just add blue food coloring and 7UP or sprite and
call it a blue lagoon with a cherry and umbrella. I looked on the internet to get different cocktails and instead of adding the alcohol part, I just substituted it for different juices or
water. Don't forget the umbrella and cherry or lemon to top it off. For refreshments I had different melons chopped into a watermelon basket. I also had the regular stuff like chips etc. When
the guests came I gave each of them a flower necklace and a grass skirt (optional). Most of the guys took the grass skirts though. Then I asked if they wanted any of the drinks which I made a
menu of. I had my CD player outside with a luau music CD going (you can buy it at a party store for under $10) After they got their drinks in colored PLASTIC cups, there was a volleyball game
going on. We played that for about 1/2 hour. Next we had a limbo with the music on. The winner got a Hawaiian straw hat with decorative flowers. After that we had an egg toss, (which got a
little out of control) and played musical chairs. We hung out and did the hula for a while, then towards the end with about 1/2 an hour left we had a bon fire. We roasted s'mores (which isn't
to Hawaiian but its fun) and hung out there. It was the greatest party and people still say that I am the best party host. I hope you get some great ideas from this and have a great luau!!
