For my brothers 5th birthday we decided to do something special we called his friends parents and had them bring their child over and not tell what for.
We started out with a magician and his apprentices (my dad and brothers) who did a few "magic tricks" like making a wand turn to flowers, handcuffs without a key, pulling handkerchief from a hat, and etc. after they were through we all went inside to the kitchen we gave each child the material to make a mini pizza or whatever their creative minds enticed them to do and then they made a mini ice cream (materials for easy ice cream contraption are: Pillsbury ready made mini pie crusts and ice cream chocolate sauce smashed cookies etc.) then we all went outside to the back yard (the party had taken place in the front yard and the window had black paper on it so they couldn't see outside) to where we had decorated with piņatas, streamers balloons and cake. the kids were surprised but wondering why there was a party (my brother wasn't there yet) then my mom brought my brother in the backyard (they had been eating birthday lunch together) after the surprise we had cake. the cake had a picture of my brother and all his friends on it along with a few Pokemon figures. then we went to play piņata the piņata was Pikachu filled with candy. when they left they all had their mini pizzas and ice cream along with goodie bags. It was a fun party for the little kids and for me and the few friends I had over my mom and the parents who had stayed.
