I wanted to do something different for my daughter's 5th birthday.
So I starting thinking of all the things that she likes. Which all little girls love to do is dress up, make-up, hair, nails, so i decided to have a fashion show, I called it a Glamour Girl Party. To prepare I went to wal-mart (who seemed to have had the lowest prices on fabric)and purchased a variety of satin/ silk like fabric, (all were on clearance)and made different out-fits like dresses, skits, (short& long) I added sheer fabric to dress everything up. I am not a seamstress so I used a glue gun and the instant seam tape. I just used my imagination on everything that I made, it is very time consuming, but well worth it. I also went to the 99 cent store which had a huge selection of princess and dress items such as high heels, purses, necklaces, rings, make-up, nail polish, some even have skirts. I then went to a party supply store and purchased 10 feet of black wrapping paper which i painted stars and words like "DIVA" "WORK-IT-GIRL" "GLAMOUR GIRL" SUPER-STAR" all these were painted with Glow-in-the-dark paint. I had a friend make me a CD with Fashion Runway type music, I used my karaoke machine and had my nephew be the announcer, I use a disco ball, a strobe light, a red siren light, a black light (so that everything would glow in the dark, like the runway). Also on a recent trip to New Orleans i picked up a few feather boas and glow in the dark necklaces. I had plenty of help, someone did the hair, someone else did the make-up and someone else did nails, and i did the dressing of each girl. I served food and cake after the show was over, I think that I had more fun than my daughter and her friends. Everyone was so amazed at how awesome the evening was.
