Glamor girl party My 6 year old daughter has always loved princesses, dress-up and
make-up. For her last party, we asked a young teen-age girl ( a sister of one of the guests) and her friend to come and do "glamour makeovers" for the princesses. These girls came equipped with curling irons, crimping irons, make-up, perfume and nail polish. They set up stations for hair, make-up and nails. Each girl stopped at each station and got "made up". you should have seen the "up-does" on their hair! The little girls loved the attention of the bigger girls, the bigger girls really knew their stuff, and had a way better collection of make-up than I do. They loved experimenting on different faces, and the girls all looked cute, not too overdone. Theolder girls were working for free as a favor, but I did treat them to gift certificates to a favorite store as payment. this was so inexpensive compared to a salon party. (By the way, we sort of set parameters with the teens prior to the party-no eyeliner or mascara was allowed, but blush and shadow, lipgloss, etc. light colors, not too heavy on the make-up etc. ) I set out beads to make jewelry while each girl waited, along with the Pretty Pretty Princess game. When everyone was done, we dressed up with jewels, boas, etc. and took pictures. We had a teapot cake (made with cakes baked in 2 bowls check Partycentral.com for the directions..simple to make) I borrowed my mothers silver tea set and we used fancy paper dishes and my tea cups with saucers to serve lemonade or coolade from the teapot. For favors, I found plastic crowns at our dollar store which each girl wore. I got cute small gift bags and found great stuff at the dollar store (scented bath gel 2 for $1, and Walmart carries a line "bon bons" tiny nail polishes and lip glosses for under a dollar apiece. Added candy necklaces and ring pops. We had 9 little girls, and it was the quietest party I have ever had, they were completely enthralled and had a blast! It was such fun that my older daughter requested the same exact party for her 7 year old party. The older crew enjoyed it just as much. I highly recommend looking at babysitters, neighbors and older sisters of your children's friends to be your party entertainers. They were great with the kids, took gentle directions well, and really had fun too!
