Mall Party:  For my daughter's 8th birthday we had a shopping party at the mall.  The party had a "Survivor" reality show theme.  12 children met at the food court and were divided into 2 teams (Shopaholics/Mall Maniacs).  Each child received a bandanna in the color of their team.  The shopping activity became the "Reward Challenge" like on the show.  The "shopping list" and maps were prepared in advance. The teams went in different directions to "kid-friendly" stores and selected their "purchases" in average price of $2.50. They returned to the food court for pizza & cake where we picked out their names from a "vessel" (small shopping bags) and they took home one of the purchases from a shopping grab bag.  Props:  "shopping survivor" logo for the cake top, invitations, & decorations; balloons, bandannas, large shopping bags for the purchases, small shopping bags as the vessel, tiny shopping bags as cake decorations, strips of paper with the children's names pre-printed, disposable cameras for picture-taking outside each store.  Goodie bags:  gift certificates from TCBY (which is at the food court: McDonalds, Auntie Anne's, & Baskin Robbins have similar certificates). Plus Hershey bars with custom made theme wrappers. The cake was a dirt cake decorated with gummy worms (the bug eating episode of the show). The party lasted about 2 hours & was a huge success.
