For my daughter's ninth birthday she wanted a Mall Scavenger Hunt.
Lucky for her I like creating fun parties. We actually purchased a very cute invitation from Target. They had a girl with heels and a little dog in her purse and they said Kayleigh is a Rock Star! We gave all the details and told the girls to meet at our house where we would all go in one car to the nearby mall. I had gone the night before with my sister and made clues for the scavenger hunt. We just looked for things at each store that the girls could purchase after finding it with the clue and they could all have one to take home. The entire party was centered around that crazy monkey Bobby Jack. My daughter was really in to his clothes so rather than buy everything we made it ourselves. We took miniature favor bags and printed on labels the clues and a picture of Bobby jack. The clues led them all over the mall. We stayed with them and helped them should they get stuck on a clue. They went to Build A bear and made the birthday girl a special bear to take home. The store was also giving away Hannah Montana posters that day so they each got one to take home. next they went towards the food court for a snack and drink. There are some of those miniature cards for kids to ride on... not those cool 9 year olds... that is what they were thinking! I made them all get inside a double decker bus that held about 4 toddlers comfortably!!! There were 6 of them!!! This was sooo funny. They were cracking up! Next we were off to every girls favorite store Icing... the clue was like, it's the ________ on the cake, and they found it! They each got a lipstick pen that were very inexpensive. Another team store in the mall had Longhorn bracelets those rubber kind that they all love to wear. There are a lot of very inexpensive things and some even free if you just ask and look around. For the last and most fun clue I had made an appointment for them to have there picture made together. There is a Sears in our Mall and they were like little models in there!!! They took one pose that I had to buy the girls all laid on the floor around a birthday cake and the photographer took an aerial shot. This was a huge success and they had fun. They also each got a dollar to spend at the Dollar Tree where everythings a dollar. I had bought little bags for them to put all of there stuff in they were so cute they were hot pink with Bobby jack and they had a drawstring and could be worn like a back pack. These were found at the dollar bin at Target. There were also bracelts and stickers that we used as favors. We headed back to our house after the hunt for cake and gifts. My sister made a cake that looke djust like Bobby Jack's face. She took two round 9 in layer cakes and cut out monkey shaped face then iced with a star tip. Very cute! The cups had Bobby Jack stickers we printed. The plates and napkins were pink. I used a pink plastic tablecloth and with the cake and plates and napkins required very little else on the table. We made a banner on our computer that said Happy Birthday with Bobby Jack on it. We hung it and attached ballons to each end. After cake we had more snacks, chips and dips and pink punch. Then it was gift time. My daughter said this was by far her most favorite party! The ones that are well thought out and cost the least sometimes are. Can't wait to see what we come up with next year.
