For my daughter's 5th birthday party she wanted to have a little mermaid slumber party. For the invitations I made a yellow and pink fish. On the top fin it said, "It's a" then on
the body of the fish it said, " Little Mermaid SLUMBER PARTY My house,5:30 p.m. Love, (child's name) P.S. Bring your sleeping bag, Little Mermaid dolls, and your favorite" Then on
the bottom fin of the body it said, "tapes!" The tail fin read, "come for oceans of fun!!" Place it in an envelope and mail it. For decorations, I made life sized cut outs
of Ariel, Flounder, Sebastian, and Ursula. We had blue and green streamers coming from the cealing with paper fish on them. We placed some of our daughter's Little Mermaid toys around the
room for more decoration. While the kids waited for all the guests to arive, I placed little mermaid coloring pages on the table for them to color. Since Ariel loved to explore for human
treasures, we started the party with a scavenger hunt. On white construction paper, make a legend for each guest. Draw pictures of the objects they need to find. Underneath it, write a silly
name for each object like Scuttle. As an example, draw a fork, under it, write, "Dinglehopper." Now give each guest thier legand and a sand pail to collect objects. Whoever finds
the most wins a prize. After this, we played Be a Sea Slug! Each guest zips themselves up in their sleeping bag. Then they race (on stomache) to see who can race across the room first. Winner
gets a prize. The kids loved this game. After the race, we played Pin the Tail on Flounder. Draw a picture of Flounder on a piece of poster paper. Don't draw his tail on it! Then draw each
guest a tail. Place a peice of double sided tape on the back of each tail. Blind fold the guests and see who can get the closest to where his tail should be. Winner gets a prize. Next came
snack time. We prepared shell pasta, goldfish crackers, trail mix, pizza, andthen an Ariel cake. For the cake, I baked a plain cake, covered it with blue icing (vanilla icing with blue food
coloring)put gummie fish and fish sprinkles on it. Then in the middle, an Ariel figurine. After we ate, the girls played Fishy Fce Picture show, We took pictures of the girls making the best
Flounder face they could. We mailed the picture with the thank you cards. After the pictures were taken, the girls did a Beauty Sea-lon. The girls gave each other and thier Ariel dolls fun
new hair styles. Next we played a good old fashion Little Mermaid board game. I found one on Ebay. Winner got a prize. Then we watched The Little Mermaid to relax them. After the movie, we
played Limbo! To The Little Mermaid soundtrack naturally! After the girls played limbo and danced to the music, we put on a play. Each girl was asigned a part to play from The Little Mermaid.
(Birthday girl is Ariel) As one parent reads the story, the girls act it out. Then it was time for bed. As the girls closed their eyes (not asleep yet. We played the soundtrack again. The
girls got up to sing and dance to it. (This should be played only if the children aren't too tired.) In the morning we made pancakes for the girls. Then they got their goodie bags and were
picked up to go home. This was definetly the highlight of them all!
