The Little Mermaid and Under the Sea party!  We had something to do for everyone! (a few guests were not able to swim) The guests came into the side of the driveway where I had a moonwalk set up.  The blue moonwalk had a mermaid scene on it! Further down the driveway, I had a tent with a table for arts and crafts. They could make necklaces with shells and fish or get a tattoo put on with different scenes of fish.(all from Oriental Trading) I transformed the garage into a under the sea theme. I took blue tarp and hung it around the garage, so it covered everything.  Then I took fish net and hung it in the corners with fish banners hanging in front. I hung fish, crab and lobster lights in the corners too. I took blue crepe paper and hung it from the ceiling to give the wave effect and hung fish down in the middle of all of it.  (all decorations form a party store) I had a fan going, so it made everything sway back and forth.  I decorated the tables with a sand bucket on its'side and the sand coming out with shells.  I also put in the sand some erasers that were star fish and crabs.  I took fish bowls and put water with blue dye and some plastic fish. It made a nice center piece with the sand.  I bought the Little Mermaid c.d., which was going during the party.  All of the napkins, plates, hats, party blowers were from the Little Mermaid theme.  I bought all of this awhile back on a trip to Florida. I hired a life guard, which was a must, for the swimming part. I blew up all kinds of beach balls and fish rings for the pool.  I put the Mylar fish balloons in the pool, tied to a raft.  It made the pool really cute!  To tie in the theme, my daughter wore a swimsuit and cover-up of Ariel from the Disney store. (she also had the towel and goggles) The best part of the party, was ARIEL. I hired Ariel to come and entertain the kids too.  She did a really great job! Some of the kids stayed in the pool, but my daughter was all over her.  I bought a Polaroid camera and took each child's picture with her. (the parents loved that) I had a Little Mermaid cake and served some snacks (goldfish)! The goodie bags had a fish necklace, candy, erasers and a beach ball. The kids had a great time and there was something to do at all times. It flew by!  I have learned if there is a theme that your child really loves, buy it when you see it.  I am so glad I bought the Little Mermaid when I did. (The theme was discontinued.) It's not hard to add pieces from other themes, but when their gone, their gone.
