For my 2 year old son's birthday party, I chose Mickey Mouse because he loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. He calls Mickey dog" because of the Hot Dog song at the end of the show.
My husband wrote a poem for the invitation printed on red paper. It was a family party so everyone knew the dog/Mickey connection. The party was held outside in the carport of my mother's house. The day of the party - we had red and black helium balloons tied with yellow ribbons (Mickey colors)which we tied to the birthday boy's chair. I blew up alot of red and black balloons and let them float along the carport. For his Mickey costume I used black tights a pair of solid red shorts with two white buttons sewed in front a long sleeve black t-shirt and yellow socks. He wore Mickey ears also. After pictures (because it was hot) I changed him into red/white striped overall shorts. For music I burned a CD with songs from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse - the hot dog song and the Mickey birthday song. The guests were preteens so I put alot of disco songs and popular songs they would like. They danced and even some of the parents. For other activies and because the guest were older I chose activities everyone could enjoy. The girls made beaded bracelets and the boys built and painted wooden race cars. For the food - Mickey Mouse shaped hamburgers and cheese hot dogs (for the hot dog song) with all the trimmings Mickey Mouse shaped pasta cheese and crackers dip and chips mini hot dogs and I had a chocolate fondue pot with marshmallow bananas peanut butter balls and chocolate chip cookies with Mickey sprinkles all to dip in the melted chocolate. A wide variety of canned drinks were iced down for everyone to choose from. For cake - a cake with a picture of all the clubhouse friends was served on Mickey plates with Mickey napkins was served with Mickey Mousekeeter ice cream. My 5 year old learned the "old" Mousketeer song to sing to his brother after happy birthday was sung. For treat bags - Mickey clubhouse bags filled with candy and bouncy balls. For one of his presents he received the Mickey Mouse clubhouse. Everyone said this ranked as one of the top parties yet."
