Egyptian Party

August 2010

Brittney in Ratcliff, Arkansas USA

For our youngest daughter we chose to go with an Egyptian theme. Her name is Chloe so she was Chloepatria" her baby brother is named Tucker so he was "King Tuck" her older brother and sister didnt really have names to coincide with any known Egyptian so big brother was a snake charmer and big sister an egyptian dancer (similar to belly dancer) Myself (mommy) was a glamed up Mummy and Daddy well I suppose he was a slave cause him and her uncle carried little Chloepatria in on a "bed" that he had made. The other guests had the choice to come or not come in costume. INVITES: Invites were a Sepia printed photo of Chloe dressed as Chleopatria (hair crimped and all) and rolled up like a scroll-needed to be hand delivered. The location was at a "castle" on the River Nyele (my parents house their last name is pronounced like NIGH" so we altered spelling to mimic their last name.   DECORATIONS THe party area is basically a blank slate that you can decorate however so we used brown paper to cover the walls and then using black paint came back in and painted hyrogliphics and pymarids onto the paper. Colors were Black and Gold. We had a few different tables each with a different related theme. The snake charmer table the belly dancing table the aligator crossing table the sphinx table (cat table) and of course the Pharoh table.   GAMES AND ACTIVITIES Activities-a treasure hunt(could also have done an archilogical dig) with candy jewels and coins as the treasure(ring pops candy necklaces and bracelets) and mardri gra style beads  The walk like an Egyptian Dance-we took pics of the children in their Egyptian poses and Wrap the Daddy like a Mummy-using toliet paper and wrap like a mummy  PARTY SNACKS Food: we werent really sure what sorta of kid friendly egyptian foods to serve so served Pita Bread with a Peanut Butter and Honey Spread Fruit Kabobs with a yogurt dipping sauce and Hummus with veggies. Also bottles of River Nile water. The cake was of course a Pymarid  CAKE I did a 3D cake but easier would be a sheet cake iced gold and a pymarid drawn on ect. (use graham cracker and spretzal crumb as well as brown sugar combo to make the ediable sand FAVORS Goodybags-Brown paper sacks with their names written both in English and Egyptian each had a small vile of "egyptian" sand and some small mummys snakes candies alligators pymarid game ect. can be found on Oriental trading or halloween time.    "
