Audrey's 1st Birthday Party: For my daughter's first birthday party, the theme was "Audrey's Favorite Things." I bought simple invitations and printed them at home with basic
invitation wording in black, and in pink italics between each line I listed her favorite things (three on each line): balloons...bubbles...snacks...friends...music...balls, etc. These things
were a hint of what to expect at the party. We had the party in the backyard and decorated with dark pink balloons, dark pink tablecloths, and pink toile paper products. As a centerpiece I
filled a square glass vase with an assortment of fun drinking straws: curly ones, brightly colored, etc. (Straws are one of her favorite things!) The straws were a huge hit with the older
kids (age 2-8), who used them to drink from bottles of water. For food we served some of Audrey's favorites: a bowl full of baby bananas; watermelon; goldfish crackers. We also had hotdogs
and salads. For activities, I spread three picnic blankets on the grass and set up each with a favorite activities. One had a basket of balls; another had a basket of bottles of bubbles and
wands; and another had all our musical toys. Indoors, we had Legos set out for kids who wanted a break. After lunch we served cake...another favorite thing! For the favors, I took clear
cellophane bags and filled each with a ball (Fisher Price Roll-a-round bought on sale at Target), a few Lego Duplo bricks, a little bag of Goldfish crackers, a bottle of bubbles, and a curly
straw. I folded over the top of the bag and secured it with a label I printed on my computer that said "Audrey's favorite things...to go!"
