My daughter Molly is notoriously messy, so for her 2nd birthday, we celebrated with a Messy party". INVITATIONS:For invitations but weren't really necessary due to all the ACTIVITIES:We
had the party in our yard and had several stations set up for the kids to have fun with: 1)we covered the garage door with paper (I used the reversed side of all the leftover Christmas
wrapping paper) and let the kids PAINT all over. (Oriental Trading has great spill-proof cups with brushes so all the paint doesn't get tipped over). 2)In the driveway we had sidewalk
chalk sidewalk paint and bubbles with lots of different bubble wands. 3) We brought our daughter's play kitchen outside and stocked it with all the makings of mud pies (some dirt water
flour flowers and sprinkles)plus plastic spoons and dishes for mixing and serving. 4)we filled a small baby pool with colored bath foam soap (we used 3 cans of aerosol kid-friendly soap
I found at Wal-Mart).We put our small yard slide into the pool and let the kids slide into the foam. (This was definately the biggest hit for the 2- to 3-year olds). 5)The sandbox was filled
with Crayola colored sand and filled with buried treasures (tattoos bubblesetc.) that the kids could dig for. This one was especially messy if they came from the foam and then got in the
sand! We also had a slip&slide and a clean baby pool for rinsing off. PARTY SNACKS: After playing for a while everyone rinsed off and we had a picnic-style meal on the back deck. In
keeping with the messy theme we had buffalo chicken wings (most kids opted for chicken nuggets instead)watermelon slices and cheetos. CAKE:Then an ice-cream cake to top it off.
FAVORS:Party favors were small plastic baskets filled with cleaning-up stuff: bath crayons bubble bath bath fizziesbath pouffs and rubber ducks. Moms were also given paper bags saying "I survived M's messy party" containing a Tide stain pen and a Mr Clean magic Eraser. We also took "before" (as the guests arrived)and "after" (at their messiest) pictures to use for thank you notes. We had kids from 7-years-old to barely 1 at this party and they all had a blast and they all got MESSY!!"
