My 2 year old loves the movie Bambi.
I thought it would be a great idea until I tried to find decorations.....there are not too many! So, I started by finding a Bambi picture (I used an internet site with free Bambi pictures) and made invitations. The inside said something like, 'hop on over with Thumper to celebrate (child's name) 2nd birthday.' They we then sent out using Bambi stamps from the post office. The week before, I started making decorations and printed off a bunch of Bambi, Flower, Thumper, owl pictures to paste on card stock. These cuts out were then used for the Scavenger Hunt outside. The kids went through the garden finding Bambi caracters. Not too complicated for 2 year olds! The next game we did was pretending like we were various characters in the movie. My daughter loved acting like she was Bambi getting stuck on the log when trying to jump over it. It was cute. Each child took a turn jumping over (mostly climbing over) a broom stick. We then had snacks; some 'forest mix' and lots of veggies and fruit. Since I could not find decorative plates and napkins, I stamped pink plates and napkins with a rubber stamp of Thumper in brown ink. Party hats were made with a piece of card stock with a print of Bambi on it and taped into a cone shape. I put curly ribbons coming out the top. The kids liked that. The cake was a big pink sheet cake with a headshot of Bambi on it. I made the cake the night before by enlarging the picture on the computer and then tracing it (with icing) onto the cake. It was fun to do and came out better than expected! Later we opened presents....again there was no Bambi themed wrapping paper so I took white wrapping paper with pink ribbon and had Thumper stamps on it. After the party, everyone took home a bag with a Bambi book, deer/forest creature stickers, and candy as a party favor. Thank you cards were the only thing I could find with Bambi on it. I ordered the post cards from the u.s. postal service that came in a pack with other Disney characters (like Mickey Mouse and Lion King)and picked all the Bambi ones out as thank you cards. It all came together finally! And of course, the Bambi movie was playing during the party.
