Bakugan Party 4&6yr

February 2009

Aurelia in Carson, California

I threw a double celebration for my sons sixth and fourth birthdays. They decided they wanted a Bakugan themed party and play Laser Tag. I did the invitations myself, downloaded a picture of all the Bakugan characters forming a circle and in the center placed a picture of my boys and pasted that in front of picture of fire.  I wrote Get ready to Brawl! It's a Double Celebration. Please join us for laser tag fun and more as AJ turns six and Addison is four! Since the place (Laserquest in Fullerton) where we had the party would only give us fifteen minutes to set up, I kept the decorations really simple.   Choose bright colors from the Bakugan, red, orange, yellow, blue, green, and purple for the party colors.  I blew up balloons and tied one to every chair, made a banner for each boy with Dan (one was red and the other blue) and hung those at the entrance of the party room and had a balloon bouquet on each side of the double doors to let the guest know where the party was.  I also kept the food simple too, made two dips a spinach and a ranch, served with chips, carrots, and celery placed them in bright orange dip containers, made Chinese chicken salad serve in a large bright red bowl, brought three buckets of chicken wings from a local grocery store served them in a chafing dish so it can be kept warm, and ordered pizza.  For dessert I made rice krispy treats in four different colors and formed them into marbles (balls) served them on bright color plates, frosted mini cupcakes in the party colors placed on top of the Wilton mini cupcake tower, made sugar cookies on sticks with an edible image of the invite on the cookie and placed those also on Wilton lollipop tower, and candy apples and placed those too on the Wilton cupcake tower. For their birthday cakes, went around to different bakeries looking for anything that was budget friendly but could not find anything to fit the theme so I made the cakes myself. The oldest birthday boy requested a Dan Kuso and the youngest birthday boy wanted a Masquerade cake. I just made the cakes from two boxes of cake mix and baked them each in a nine by twelve baking ban, photo copied their faces to fit the serving trays and cut out the faces as templates and placed that on top of the cakes to cut and shaped their cake and decorated the details by freehand. I'm no baker but it turned out great, the boys really loved their cakes and for me that is enough. No stores had any Bakugan paper goods, but finally found them on BirthdayDirect.com and only order the dessert plates, napkins, and tablecloths.  I used the tablecloths on only the food and dessert table since the tables there were already in my color scheme didn't bother to cover the rest of the tables.  To save money I brought the rest of the paper goods (plates, napkins, and utensils) at a budget store in the party color scheme and placed them in a serving caddy that I decorated by using sticker label printed with image from their invite.  I found Bakugan tattoos at Michaels and my oldest birthday boy applied all the tattoos to the party guests while they were waiting for the second game to start. After the games were played one of the employees were nice enough to do a little magic show for the kids.  I didn't have any time to do party games but for the highest scorer for each game took home a golden play gun as the winning prize.  For the favors I went to Los Angeles toy district and found Bakugan favor bags and filled them with Bakugan marbles, toy finger lights for boys and ring lights for girls, snap pops, glow sticks, cheese popcorn, and fruit roll ups. The boys and their friends had fun and it was an easy and stress free party for their mom.
