Sugar Bush Party 10yr

March 2007

My birthday is in the spring and I always have trouble deciding what to do. It's not warm enough to go swimming but it's too warm to play in the snow so for my 10th birthday party i decided to do a popular spring activity; Go To The maple sugar bush.  INVITATIONS; I hand made my invitations out of regular white paper. On the front of each one I used a stencil to draw a leaf ex: There were maple leaves, oak leaves, beech leaves ect. On the inside of each i put all the usual information; date, Time, Place, phone number. i gave the invitations out about 2 weeks before the party so the guests had plenty of time to r.s.v.p.  DECORATIONS; Because after the sugar bush we were coming back to my house for cake and presents I decorated the house with tons of ballons in cheerful springy colours.I also criss-crossed streamers on the dinning room ceiling. For the table I bought a disposable plastic table coth that matched the baloon. i decorated the table with flowers and bright coloured plates.        CAKE AND ICE CREAM; For the cake I recomend vanilla because most kids like it. For my cake I bought two boxes of vanilla cake mix. I made two cakes and stuck them together one on top of the other, with icing. I covered the cake with vanilla icing    and then used paint brushes and bowls of different colours of food colouring to draw pictures and write things on the cake. The ice cream was vanilla because, once again everyone likes itbut we had toppings on hand such as chocolate syrup, bananas and sprinkles.  LOOT BAGS; For the loot bags we bought each guest a hula hoop from the dollar store and gave them each a colourful plastic flower pot filled with candy, gum and small items.   THE DAY OF; We asked the guests to get dropped off at our house around 10:00 on a Saturday. When all the guests had arrived, we all piled into a van and drove to the local sugar bush. Once there we treated the guests to a big pancake lunch in the sugar Bush's restaurant. After lunch we walked through the maple syrop museum, went on a hay ride and visited the animals in the barn. Our sugar bush also has a fantastic zip line that entertained the kids for atleast half an hour but your activities will varry depending on your Sugar bush. We bought each guest a frozen piece of syrop on a stick for the ride home and then drove back to my house. When we got to my house we served the cake and had ice cream. After that we opened presents and then played outside with our hula hoops until it was time for the guests to go. I have a tire swing, a swing set and a basket ball net so the guests were well entertained.  All in all it was a gret party!! The guests had fun and it was easy and affordable as our sugar bush is free. If you're like me and have an April or March birthday than i garrentee that this is the party for you!!
