My son wanted a Dungeons and Dragons role playing adventure birthday party for his 9th birthday. I always come to birthdaypartyideas.com for inspiration but I couldn't find anything exactly like I wanted. So I began figuring it out for myself. For invitations, I printed them out on maplike paper that looked aged. The invitations read: Hark Adventure, your skill and wit are needed on a very important quest. Fogart Mudlumps (AKA Joey) is putting together a party of adventurers on Saturday the eight day of September at sundown (6:00) and he is expecting to return by 9:00. Fogart will be buyin' all prospective adventures a hearty meal at the pub before you set off as well as all rations for your journey. Please contact Mrs. Mudlumps at XXXXXXX to let us know if you'll be joining us.   When the guests arrived, they went to our formal dining room table which had paper plates covered in aluminum foil, rustic bowls, and wine glasses. The table was covered in a black table cloth with a candleabra on the center. Half of our party were vegetarians so we didn't want to serve chicken drumsticks or cornish game hens, although they would have worked well, especially if eaten with your fingers. So we had fire roasted potatoes" (baked potatoes) with all the fixins (including bacos for our vegetarian friends) roasted vegetables Thomas Kemper or the like so it looks like beer). The kids all had a blast eating in the "pub" fueling for their quest.   After dinner we cleared the table off and turned on the lights and set up the table for a dungeons and dragons adventure. My husband has acted as Dungeon Master for a few adventures for our kids but we have a neighbor teen who plays D&D with his friends and he volunteered to be the Dungeon Master for the night. It worked out really well because my husband was able to help the kids through the adventure.   Afterwards my son opened his presents and had cake. It was his favorite birthday party ever.  Dungeons and Dragons is a role playing adventure game. You can buy preplanned adventures at your local book store or make up your own as our Dungeon Master did. "
