Hello -
A party for any age but we used this as the theme for my daughter's 3rd birthday party which was a mix of adults and kids...The theme...CANDY(her b-day is right around Halloween)! Here is how: - Invites: Playing off Willy Wonka I created a cute saying... oom pa, oom pa, oom pa dee doo, have I got a party a party for you! oom pa, oom pa, oom pa dee dee, this year Maria is turning 3!...the card was printed with faint swirls of different colors and had a bright colorful boarder around it. - Party room arrival: We use a club house (part of the community we live in) which is one big room. Upon arrival guest walk up the path and stairs greated with candy canes and peppermint candy lights. - Party room: When they enter the hall there are huge peppermint candy lollipops about the hall, with more candy cane lights. In addition, I hung candy quiz questions on the wall by the buffet line (something to read and play along with while waiting for their food). Last, red and white streamers twited together like a candy cane were hung along the wall from ceiling to floor to complete the look. - Party room adult tables: Each table was covered with a simple white table cloth (I wanted to add some red swirls to make it look like candy but ran out of time). Each table had a giant hershey kiss with round and squiggily shaped balloons tied to it, with large fake hard candy. The kisses were made from using a funnel, wrapping it with tin foil and then hanging a piece of steamer (which said happy birthday) out the top. The hard candy was made from cheap chritmas ball ornaments (red and gold) which were wrapped in clear cellophane and tied on both end with curling ribbon. Also included in a confetti like style (we can't use real confetti at this hall) was real candy (kisses, sweat tarts, smarties, etc.). Last each place setting included a clear or red colored cellophane bag filled with a napkin, utensils and the finishing touch...one green and white and one red and white dinner mint! - Party room kid table: The kids table didn't include the real candy "confetti" but I used a rainbow polka dot table cloth, plates, napkins, etc. The party hats were solid colors but had their name on it in a stylish manner. In addition, thier napkin set (in a bag) included utensils, extra napkin, polka dot or striped blower (WITH their name on it)and a napkin rolled up and tucked into a flower shaped ring. Their table too included the big hershey kiss and balloons. - Party music: When guests arrived they heards candy songs; On the good ship lollipop, candy man, If your chewing gum looses its flavor, peppermint twist, etc. - Dinner activitiy: Since this was a candy theme, and the clubhouse does have a DVD and TV I played Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory while everyone sat and ate dinner. - Cake: It included a picture of my daughter in addition to icing shaped candys all over it with a pretty hot pink and white boarder. - Party bags adult: A wacky rainbow flowered colorful bag was filled with a bright color of tissue paper filled with...what else...CANDY! - Party bags kids: No additional candy needed for the kids but instead kept with the multi color theme and gave the kids a polka dot bag filled with rainbow clay. - Thank you notes: To keep along with the invite I wrote up a saying...Oom pa oom pa oom pa dee doo, have I got a thank you a thank you for you...oom pa oom pa oom pa dee dee, it was nice of you to party with me! Hope you enjoyed this sweet retreat! Good luck with your party!!!
