Candy Store Party! Some of you may have heard of or even been to Dylan's Candy Bar. There's a few in New york and one in texas and one in florida and a few other place. They are really cool. So, one day, I thought to myself, why don't I have a Dylan's Candy Bar party? If you go to their website, they have all sorts of pictures of their stores and they're pretty amazing. INVITATIONS- On the computer, we wrote, You're invited to (birthday child's name) Candy Bar in honor of his/her (age)th birthday! The fabulous sweets store is only here for one day, so make sure you're at (address) on (date) from (times). Please RSVP to (phone number) or email us at (email.) We hope you can come! We printed them out on gold paper and we put candy stickers on the corners and then we punched a hole in the top of the paper and curled a ton of ribbon and tied it on to the top through the hole. They turned out great! DECORATIONS/SET UP- I really went over the top with the decorations, so you don't need to do them this extravagant. When the guests walked in there was a huge banner hanging up that said Welcome to (birthday child's name) Candy Bar in gold glitter on a long hot pink sheet of paper. It was very cool! .We put tons and tons of streamers up. The kitchen had lots of streamers set out too and on our kitchen table, we rented a Cotton Candy Machine, a Popcorn machine and a Snow Cone machine. They were a big hit! Then, we set up the other half of our kitchen as an Ice Cream Bar! We bought a few really cheap wooden stools at the craft store and we painted them to look like peppermints and on the side added little dots of puff paint. We Set up a big piece of poster board with all the ice cream flavors, toppings, and sizes in rainbow. My Mom stood there and served ice cream to everyone. She wore a red apron and we bought a white hat and a red fabric marker (paint works too) and made the hat look like a peppermint. In our basement, we wrapped the banisters in red ribbon to look like peppermints. We also made giant candy bars out of foam board , a large roll of paper which we drew on to look like a giant Hershey's, reeses, snickers, wonka bars and heath bars. We also got lots of candy-bar pillows. We got lots of streamers down here too. On the table we put tons of glitter on there. On our TV we played willy wonka, but we put on the subtitles and muted it and played candy theme and party music. On one wall, we hung up Lime green and Hot pink stripes up on the wall.  Outside, We made giant lollypops! We used a long stick or dowel or tubing or whatever you want to use and then on a big sheet of paper, we cut out circles and painted them to look like lollypops. The table had a pink tablecloth on it and gold plates and pink napkins and gold cup, silverware, and confetti. In the center of the table, we put a vase out and filled it with lollypops. It looked fabulous! We got the idea of a chocolate pond off this site, but modified it a little. Using tin foil and cardboard, we shaped the tinfoil to be the shape we wanted (which was big!) and then we bunched up the edges, so the chocolate pond wouldn't spill. And then we put cardboard underneath, just in case. Then we filled the pond with chocolate water which was the ground chocolate and water (I think). We finished it of with a sign that said, Please don't touch the chocolate. Its very hot!, (even though it wasn't) and then surrounded the pond with giant jellybean-shaped and painted Styrofoam. We also set up a chocolate fountain and a s'mores bar. We topped off all the rooms with simple little things, like gumball machines and bowls of candy, but the party really focused on the details. ACTIVITIES/CRAFTS/WHAT WE DID- When everyone arrived, we all went into our dining room. first we all made candy name-tags. We used tulle and curling ribbon (cut into 1 ft. strips)  and laid the tulle out flat. we spaced the candies out leaving 3 at the end. Then we rolled the tulle into a long snake with the candies inside. Then we tied ribbon in between the candies leaving them evenly spaced. then on a small sheet of paper, they wrote there name, favorite candy and decorated it. We punched two holes one in each top corner and tied the two ends of tulle through the holes. They were really good! Since there were more than 16 kids, we split them up into two groups. The first group stayed in the dining room and got to make there own chocolate lollypops (using molds), decorate cookies, and they got cotton candy, popcorn and snow cones and they made hot cocoa spoons. The second group went in the yard and designed there own candy jewelry, played candy bingo, did licorice limbo, and had a contest to see who could blow the biggest bubble. Then the groups switched. After that, the group that was in the dining room first, got to make there own ice cream sundaes in the kitchen. The other group went in the yard where they did the chocolate fountain and then they played Jawbreaker toss- we filled up water balloons and then they tossed the water balloons back and forth with a partner while the music played. When the music stopped, whoever's balloon popped, or was with the same person it started with was out. Sort of like freeze dance and water balloon toss mixed together. then they played the Jelly Bean Game- 1. Everyone sits in a circle. 2. Pass out the jelly beans so everyone has a small pile. 3. The first person places one jelly bean on the spoon and passes the spoon to the next person. 4. And then that person adds one and passes. 5. And it continues adding and passing around the circle. 6. When a jellybean falls off the spoon, the player who dropped the candy is out. 7. The player who made the last successful addition gets to keep all the jellybeans from the first round and then starts another round. 8. The game continues until only one person is left. Then the groups switched. After they finished, we went outside and had cake and candy pizza FOOD- The Candy Pizza: For the pizza, first we melted a 10 oz bag of peanut butter chips. Then we spread the melted peanut butter chips onto a plate to make the crust. When the crust cooled, we spread on 3/4 cup of strawberry jam as the sauce. Then, when the kids went up to get some pizza they got to pick if they wanted olives (1/4 inch slices of licorice), pepperoni (fruit roll ups), Unions and peppers (sliced gummy worms) cheese ( shredded coconut) or sausage ( chocolate covered raisins). It was really good! The Cake- The cake was covered in candy like jellybeans, gum (sugar-free since a lot of the kids had braces), mini candy-bars, mini resses peanut butter cups, skittles and m&ms, gummy worms and chocolate cover gummy bears. It was very cool! Plus there was the chocolate fountain, cotton candy machine, snow cones, popcorn, ice cream, chips, cookies, dirt cups (chocolate pudding, crushed oreos/gram crackers, & gummy worms) other party snacks, and then of course tons of candy! FAVORS- After cake and candy pizza, all the kids went downstairs in our basement. On a big table, we set up all sorts of candy. Every kind you can imagine! We gave each of the kids a brown bag with there name on it and they could fill it up. Plus, they all got a pair of neon plastic sunglasses, a glow necklace, and a full size candy-bar! The party tuned out great and everyone loved it! It was a little expensive, but definitely worth it!
