We celebrated my son's 4th birthday this weekend. For the past 6 months he has been begging for a Diego party. Unfortunately, Diego is just now starting to become popular, so I was
pretty much on my own for ideas.
For the invitation, my husband downloaded a jungle photograph that he super imposed a picture of Diego and Baby Jaguar on. On the inside, he took a picture of Diego looking through a spotting scope and super imposed my son's face on it so it looked like he was spotting" Jaguar. He created a font that looked like a cargo box shipping label. They were awesome! For decorations I bought the few Diego items that OTC had...scene setters table trees etc. For the cake I made a 1/2 sheet cake that I sprayed to look like a water hole in a jungle put some plastic trees on it and had a Diego candle a Baby Jaguar and an elephant and giraffe. And I made Diego and Jaguar cupcakes. The Diego cupcakes had melted chocolate hair that hung over the sides which I got the recipe from NickJr.com. For food we had a taco bar with beef chicken and every taco topping you can imagine. But the best part of the party was the safari. My husband took our overgrown woods cut in and roped off a long path which wound through the woods. Along the path there were spider monkeys bobo monkeys and macaws hanging in the trees. The "watering hole" had a 7 foot tall by 12 foot long 3D elephant made from trees and logs and 7 alligators ranging from 3 foot to 9 foot. Further down the path was a mama and baby giraffe also made of sticks and logs. Mama stood at about 14 feet tall and baby was about 5 feet. And just before leaving the woods there was an old campsite complete with tent fire ring and a poor old skeleton whose leg fell prey to a wandering alligator. The whole project was made from wood and logs that were in the back yard and the legs for the giraffs and elephants were actual trees that were still standing. All the kids (15 of them) received a bag with safari hats with their names on them Diego spotting scopes flashlights canteens Diego stickers and tattoos and banana suckers. All in all the party was a huge success!!"
