For my Son's 9th birthday party we went with a CSI theme. I quickly found that CSI party items were hard to find, so after looking at Party City we found Spy plates, cups, napkins, and badges. I sent out invitations that read, Agent Emil needs your help. There has been foul play with the Pinata and he needs your help to find it. The invitations were made with card stock on my computer with crime scene tape through the center.  We purchased Crime scene tape from a local Police store and put it all around the yard. As the kids arrived they had to go through the tape to get in the house, they were finger printed and handed badges. We broke the kids into three groups and had a scavenger hunt to find the pinata. We had adults help the kids and when the first team found the pinata, we let them line up first to hit it. My best friend made the pinata from card board and newspaper, in the shape of a magnifying glass. (it held together better than any of the ones I have bought in the past) Then we had cake, that I made. I made two round cakes, one I placed on a flat bake sheet and the second one I cut the edges off to make a rectangle. I put the rectangle to the round part and iced it with green black and white icing to look like a magnifying glass.
