For my daughter's 6th birthday we decided to do a movie theme.
I got invites at oriental trading that looked like movie tickets. They were asked to bring them with them to the party. As the children arrived we took the ticket tore it and gave them half of it back and dropped the other half in the bucket. We had a red carpet as you came in and took a picture of each child as they walked down the red carpet. My daughter picked out a movie she wanted to watch. The new Barbie movie Mariposa. We set up dowel rods in buckets of sand with ropes attached to them to resemble a movie theater. We decorated tables in red, white, black, and gold. We took big cardboard boxes and painted the red and with stripes and stenciled popcorn on them filled them with packing peanuts painted yellow. We got movie themed plates, cups, napkins, and decorations at Party City. We got big, gold cardboard stars and put them on the floor with the children's names on them. We got posters of different movies stars and hung them around. We set the chairs in rows like at the movies. We had a snack table with pizza, hot dogs, bags of chips, big movie boxes of candy, we got popcorn boxes at Party City, and used cups with lids and straws. After the movie we did crafts and games such as musical chairs, and we made stars from foam with the children's pictures and names on them. After the games we passed out treats. For treat bags we used popcorn buckets filled with movie candy, sunglasses, star stickers, and little movie trinkets, found at Party City. The children had a lot of fun. My daughter loved it and felt like a movie star.
